    Nordecor & FSC Certification
  • Being green. It's not just a fad anymore, but being
environmentally responsible has evolved to a level that
includes consumers, businesses, and industries. Being
responsible starts at the source. The Forest Stewardship
Council (FSC) is an independent, non-profit, non-
governmental organization that was established to
promote responsible management of the world's forests.
FSC sets high standards to ensure that companies
harvesting wood are practicing responsible forestry
methods. The FSC also sets standards for the
authenticity of recycled wood/wood reclaimed from old
    barns, warehouses and other buildings.
  • Nordecor has obtained FSC Chain-of-Custody
certification to sell products as FSC Pure, FSC Mixed
    and FSC Recycled.

What does the FSC logo mean to you?
  • The FSC logo on lumber and consumer goods is a
guarantee that the wood product you’re purchasing comes
from forests that meet the standards of the FSC; meaning
that they are  managed in a manner that is environmentally
and socially responsible. Seeing the FSC logo means the
business has made a solid commitment to comprehensive
management practices instead of relying on "green"
marketing gimmicks that play on consumers' emotions.
  • FSC certification is a voluntary program. Businesses that
become FSC certified are showing they have a commitment
to being good stewards of the land.
  • Using FSC certified lumber may qualify for points and help a
    building achieve LEED certification.

  LEED Green Building Rating System
  • The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit
composed of leaders from every sector of the building industry working
to promote buildings and communities that are environmentally
responsible, profitable and healthy places to work. USGBC offers
LEED certification. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental
Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is a nationally
recognized certification process that encourages sustainable building
    practices.

 Minnesota GreenStar
  • Minnesota GreenStar is a green building standard and green
certification program for both existing and new homes that promotes
healthy, durable, high performance homes.  The MN GreenStar
certification program is a whole-system approach that takes into
account five key concepts: energy efficiency, resource efficiency,
indoor environmental quality, water conservation, and impact on the
    site and the community.
